One of the most important hotspots on the planet, the Amazon was featured event held on June 23 in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso. The importance of sustainable development in the biome and public policies and strategies that contribute to improving the living conditions of traditional communities and family farmers were recurring themes at the event. “You can equate the environment with economic and social. The region known as the Amazon in Brazil covers nine states: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, Tocantins, Mato Grosso and Maranhão.The area corresponds to 61% of the country is one of the richest vegetation in biodiversity in the world.

The Center’s Forest Code (OCF) was created in May 2013 to promote social control over the implementation of Law No. 12,651, 2012 (Brazilian Forest Code) and ensure environmental, social and economic integrity in the forests in private areas. The network consists of 23 independent organizations that came together with the same objective of promoting the effective implementation of the code.
