Deforestation in the Legal Amazon has reduced more than 70% since 2004, when he reached the second highest peak in the history of monitoring the biome (27,772 km2). That year, the federal government created various devices to control the problem, including the list of critical municipalities. These and other measures taken since then have helped to reduce deforestation in the region.
