MT government does not guarantee transparency
The ICV released on Monday (25) an assessment of the current situation of transparency of information forest in Mato Grosso, based on availability and access practiced by the state Department of Environment.

MT accounts for 20% of Amazon deforestation in the last year
The state of Mato Grosso accounted for 20% of all deforestation detected in the Amazon last year. This is shown by the analysis of the Center of Life Institute, based on data released by the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). Even the state has assumed an international commitment to zero illegal deforestation, almost 90% of more than 1300 square kilometers of forest cleared between August 2016 and July 2017 were not allowed by the environmental agency.

Deforestation grows 152% in Mato Grosso, according to DSS data

Consolidation and transparency of information are key to ensure fulfillment of the CAR
Cuiabá, May 8, 2015 - The federal government announced this week to extend for another year the deadline for joining the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR), which would end on 6 May. After a year in operation, the CAR, expected tool in the Forest Code, has only a quarter of rural properties registered the country. In Mato Grosso, according to the Instituto Centro de Vida (ICV), about 65% of cadastrável area, which corresponds to 45% of property subject to registration, are registered.
