CAR next step will require new strategies and dialogue

The CAR and municipalities
Mauro Pires The implementation of the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) brought to the municipalities an additional challenge in the task of enforcing the new Forest Code. Although the responsibility to provide the means to put into practice the CAR is in the hands of state governments, the action takes place even at the municipal level. Properly structured to fulfill the mission, municipalities can be important driver for environmental compliance in their territories.
