IMAFLORA, part of the Center’s Forest Code, participated on Tuesday at 14 pm, the 29th, the table which will discuss “Open Government and Environment” during the “First National Meeting on Open Government,” which is an initiative joint Institute, the NGO Article 19, the Center for Information and Coordination Point Br – NIC BR; Co: Lab / USP, the Open Knowledge Brazil, the Ministry of Transparency, Supervision and Comptroller General of the Union and the Government of São Paulo and INESC support.
The forester and IMAFLORA project manager, Maurice Voivodic, will be representing Brazil Climate Coalition, Forest and Agriculture and will address the importance of public access to information about the path of wood, since its removal from the forest to the consumer and the need for public opening of the database of the Document of Forest Origin as a way to reduce illegality in the sector.
Also participating in the debate at this table, Iracema Sena de Souza Marques (Cidadanize up), Ana Paula Gouveia Valdiones (Observatory of the Forest Code), Fernanda Meirelles (Idesam) and Joara Marchezini (Article 19) which will contribute to approaches towards the challenges to promote open government on environmental issues, including the management of municipal waste generation and monitoring of social and environmental commitments and the opening of important databases to a greater understanding of the environmental dynamics and land use in Brazil.
The event is part of government agencies, non-governmental organizations, researchers, universities, social movements, citizens and private sector, to discuss progress and challenges of the theme Open Government.
